Florida West Post 2 has been called “The Vacation Post” for many years, but it has become an accepted moniker of our loyal members here in Sarasota, Florida.
Our meeting place is the Bradenton Red Lobster.
Northern “snowbirds” (vacationers) who happen to be 29ers frequently visit our Post and then make up their minds to stay in sunny Florida for the rest of their lives. Our membership is somewhat smaller than the rest of the Association at large, but we are growing steadily all the time!
While we can sit back and enjoy some coconut shrimp and a cold brew, we take honoring our heroes seriously here at Florida West Post 2, but good times and camaraderie always follow!
Florida West Post 2 meets the Third Saturday of every month at noon at The Bradenton Red Lobster: 5711 14th St W, Bradenton, Florida. Phone: (941)756-1814 for questions and reservations. There are also world class hotels near the beaches for your comfort when visiting!
We generally take a break for the Summer (July, August) when it’s just too doggone hot! Our doors swing wide open again to the cool confines of The Red Lobster in September!
Our Post is open naturally to bona fide soldiers of the 29th Infantry Division, but we would like to extend a hearty invitation to all family and friends of those who fought in all wars representing the Blue and the Gray.
We also would like to extend an invitation to anyone who wants to honor and extend the legacy of the 29th Infantry Division, by carrying the memory of these brave men and women far into the future.
Our local activities include: Memorializing our heroes with Wreaths Across America at the Sarasota National Cemetery at Christmas each year.
We are also continuing to seek help with funding for our proposed Florida West Post 2 monument to be placed at The Sarasota National Cemetery. A laid in stone memorial to honor those members who sacrificed their life for the security and safety of The United States of America.
