1. Cresap’s Rifles Post 78 normally meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month (except December) at 6:30 p.m. Our meeting room is located in the William Talley Recreation Center (the old Frederick National Guard Armory) at the corner of West 2nd Street and North Bentz Streets in Frederick, Maryland. Prior to World War II, the 115th Infantry Regimental Headquarters Company, Company A and the Regimental Band were housed at the old Frederick Armory.
2. Post 78’s membership was originally former members of the 115th Infantry. However, as the Association has embraced geographical membership for Posts and has broadened the reach of membership criteria for the Association, Post 78 now includes members of all connections or ties to the 29th Division. Post 78 is one of the most active posts in the Maryland Region and we welcome new members. We gladly accept family members of current and past members of the 29th Infantry Division as regular members; and anyone from other branches of service or who wish to honor and preserve the legacy of the 29th Division may also become members. 3. The Officers for Post 78 are:

4. Dues are $12.00 per year ($15.00 if paid through PayPal) and are based on a January through December schedule
5. While we may be involved in many efforts during the year, our major projects and events are:
a. Just prior to Memorial Day, Post members/families/volunteers place 29th Division Association flags on the graves of deceased 29ers in cemeteries in throughout Frederick County.
b. In 2023, Post 78 revived its participation in the Sharpsburg Memorial Day Parade with new version of the Post 78 Float. In 2024, the Post added participation in the Woodsboro Memorial Day Parade and is looking for other possible venues for the Post 78 Float.
c. In 2013, Post 78 initiated a program during the Christmas season to prepare and deliver small gifts to all service veterans residing in nursing homes in the City of Frederick. This program has expanded and we are now making deliveries to roughly 140-150 veterans each year.
d. Post 78 holds social functions for the benefit of the members each year. The Family Picnic is held in August each year and we normally conduct our annual Memorial Service at this time also. A plaque honoring a selected former member of the 29th Division is awarded to the nearest living survivor with an identical plaque hung in our meeting room on a “Wall of Honor”. The traditional Crab Feed in the fall will be replaced (due to ever rising prices of crabs!) with a Sea Food Fest.
